Governor Greg Abbott's political campaign is looking to hire a couple interns for the Fall 2023 semester. No prior experience is needed. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in government, politics and political campaigns. Governor Abbott was recently re-elected in November 2022 and his next re-election campaign is not until 2026, so while we are a political campaign, this internship is not your typical political internship. There is no upcoming election we are rushing towards, there is no making phone calls or knocking on doors involved. Some of the tasks you will be working on: - Assisting the campaign's Data department. The data department maintains an updated statewide voter file, keeps and updates all of the campaigns internal data and helps other departments in data-related tasks. Any given task may involve things such as research, data entry and writing reports. If interested in the data-side, we'll also teach you how to use various tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, PowerBI and much more. - Assisting the campaigns Political department. This may require research, proofreading, answering constituent emails, organizing correspondence and more. - Assisting other departments of the campaign as needed. Possible tasks may come from the Finance or Digital departments, or from any other part of our campaign. - General office duties, such as answering the phones While this is an unpaid internship, we are open to transitioning good fits into a potential part-time or full-time role with the campaign. All of our previous interns over the years have finished their internship with vastly improved data and communication skills. Many of them were hired to part-time or full-time positions. Previous interns who wanted to move on somewhere else were assisted in helping them find work, in and out of the political world, or assisted in helping them get into a graduate program or law school. This is an in-person internship located at our campaign office, a few blocks away from the Texas State Capitol, and about a mile south of the UT campus.
