About the Campaign:

Arshia Papari is the youngest candidate on the ballot in Texas for a state level office, running for Texas State Representative in Central Austin’s House District 49, with a fearless, youth led campaign for affordability and justice, climate action, human rights, Texans’ rights across the board, and real democracy. This campaign isn’t politics as usual, it’s bold, grassroots, and driven by young people who are ready to shake the system, and build a brighter future!

All internships are unpaid, but interns will receive:

  • A strong letter of recommendation from the candidate.

  • Support to secure academic credit or internship scholarships.

  • 1:1 mentorship and training with the candidate and senior staff.

  • Real responsibility, not busywork, you’ll see your impact every day.

  • Experience that sets you apart in politics, organizing, and leadership.

Field & Organizing Intern

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and train volunteers for canvassing, phonebanks, and events, and engage with the community we are hoping to serve.

  • Knock doors, make calls, and build relationships with voters.

  • Organize grassroots outreach in communities across the district.

  • Support Get-Out-the-Vote efforts in the campaign’s final phase.

Qualifications

  • Outgoing and people oriented; strong communicator.

  • Passion for social change, activism, or community organizing.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends.

  • No experience required, just energy and commitment.

Communications & Social Media Intern

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow the campaign’s Instagram and social media presence.

  • Create posts, reels, graphics, and stories that drive engagement.

  • Possibly draft press releases, speeches, and talking points.

  • Track media mentions and help with rapid response.

Qualifications

  • Strong writing and digital content skills.

  • Experience with Instagram, TikTok, Canva, or similar tools.

  • A creative eye for design, video creation and editing skills, or meme development is a plus.

  • Must be plugged into youth culture and able to translate politics into shareable content.

Finance & Fundraising Intern

Responsibilities

  • Assist with donor research and database management.

  • Help organize fundraising events and digital campaigns.

  • Support fundraising calls and contribute to donor outreach.

  • Track contributions and help maintain accurate records, possibly support with TEC financial filings.

Qualifications

  • Detail oriented and organized.

  • Comfortable speaking with supporters and potential donors.

  • Interest in nonprofit, campaign, or fundraising work.

  • No finance experience required, though it is a plus, training provided.

Policy & Research Intern

Responsibilities

  • Conduct policy research to strengthen the campaign platform, and support social media posts based on such policy research.

  • Prepare issue briefs and talking points for candidate appearances.

  • Support opposition research on the race and legislative issues.

  • Track news, legislation, and political developments in Texas.

Qualifications

  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.

  • Interest in public policy, law, or social justice.

  • Ability to synthesize information clearly and quickly.

  • Students in political science, public policy, or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Operations, Partnerships, & Data Intern

Responsibilities

  • Manage scheduling, logistics, and campaign operations.

  • Assist with voter data entry, list-building, and analysis.

  • Develop endorsement opportunities, and help submit endorsement request, and candidate questionnaires.

  • Help coordinate events, advance planning, and candidate travel, overall assist in keeping the campaign organized and running smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Highly organized and reliable.

  • Comfortable with technology, spreadsheets, and databases.

  • Strong problem solving and multitasking skills.

  • Interest in learning the behind-the-scenes of campaign strategy.
