We’re looking for smart, energetic, and creative college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates* who are dedicated to Democratic policies and values and interested in gaining political experience. This is a full-time, six-weeks training course on nuts and bolts of modern politics as well as the important policy questions that confront state government. Trainers and speakers include current and former elected officials, political consultants, university professors, journalists, and state policy experts. Participants will receive first-hand experience with professional campaigns and party organizations, engage in political activities and network with leaders in the field. You’ll get exposure to the very people and organizations who provide fellowships and jobs in Travis County and Texas for summer and fall campaigns. Attendance at the Democratic Convention is a required activity**. *exemplary college freshmen and sophomores will be considered with additional application requirements. **Registration, travel and accommodations at the 2018 Democratic Convention is included for Fellows with a 95% attendance rate throughout the Academy.
