Job Description
The Capitol Office of State Representative David Spiller is seeking applicants for one intern position during the Spring 2024 semester. This position is unpaid, but we work with interns to ensure they receive quality experience and academic credit, if desired. The work schedule can be flexible; however, individuals will be expected to commit 10-12 hours per week. As an intern, students will have the opportunity to learn about the legislative process, research issues impacting the state and House District 68, support constituent communication efforts, and aid the Capitol Office in clerical work. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Answering phones and greeting visitors; assisting with constituent outreach through phone, mail, and email; assisting with constituent casework and helping draft correspondence to inquiries; scanning, sorting, and filing correspondence; monitoring current events within the district and statewide legislative news; other administrative tasks and duties as assigned. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent oral and written communication skills; a positive attitude and willingness to learn and take direction; strong attention to detail and ability to multitask; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite; a professional appearance and punctuality.
