Job Description
The Office of State Representative Jessica González is seeking an intern for the summer of 2022 (June – August), with the opportunity for extending. The candidate will work alongside the Representative and Chief of Staff in the Capitol office to assist with policy research, prepare social media content, handle constituent calls, and other duties depending on skillset and expertise. Candidates should expect to work in the office approximately 15-20 hours a week. A monthly stipend will be provided, and the internship may be considered for course credit. The ideal candidate will have a basic familiarity with the legislative process in Texas and prominent issues affecting the state. They will have excellent written and verbal communications skills, strong planning and organizational skills, will show attention to detail, and be willing to learn. Women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those interested in a career in government or public service are strongly encouraged to apply. Prior legislative experience is not required.
