Job Description
The Texas House Republican Caucus is seeking legislative interns for the upcoming 86th Legislative Session. The Texas House Republican Caucus is comprised of all Republican Members serving in the Texas House of Representatives. The purpose of the Caucus is to provide research, education, policy development and other support to the Caucus Members and their staff. This staff position is crucial to the success of the office, and will be assisting the Executive Director and Policy Director with the following responsibilities: General office administration - answering phone calls, greeting guests, meeting with special interest groups, coordinating meeting requests, sorting mail, etc.; Policy research - organizing and tracking bill recommendations, attending meetings, hearings, and briefings, etc.; Communications - drafting and reviewing press releases, researching information for internal messaging, etc. Dates for the internship are Monday, January 7, 2019 through Monday, May 27, 2019. Applicants must be proactive, professional, and detail-oriented, with excellent written and oral communication skills. Ideal candidates will be able to work 10-15 hours per week and have an interest in the legislative process.
