Job Description
The Capitol Office of State Senator José Menéndez is offering an unpaid internship for the Summer and Fall of 2022 to graduate and undergraduate students. The internship will be multifaceted with a particular emphasis on legislative research. The legislative internship will teach students how to research legislation, develop policy positions, respond to constituent needs, and perform other tasks. The internship will also allow students to work on their topics of interest when possible. All interns will assist the Senate office staff and will be an integral part of the public service provided by the Senator's office. Applicants ought to possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, solid computer and writing skills, have the ability to understand and explain complex policy issues, and display a strong work ethic. Applicants should also have a strong desire to serve their community and be civically engaged. The atmosphere of the Senate office can be very quick-paced and highly demanding. Therefore, a professional and courteous manner is expected at all times. The Office of State Senator José Menéndez is open to working with the student's respective college or university to assist with course credit for the internship. The hours of the internship will vary dependent on the student's schedule.
