Job Description: 
Legislative Intern - Capitol Office Position Description: Responsible for assisting with the daily affairs of the Capitol office, correspondence, meetings, addressing and resolving constituent matters, and various state-related duties. The Legislative Intern is subject to supervision by the Chief of Staff and Representative and is expected to be professional and courteous when acting on behalf of or representing the office and Member. Primary Location: Capitol Office - Austin, Texas. Job Type/Duration: Part-Time | Summer: May – Aug. 2024 | Fall: Sept. – Dec. 2024 Responsibilities: • Various Administrative Duties - including answering telephone calls, handling postal mail, checking and responding to emails, and picking up and delivering various documents around the Texas Capitol Complex. • Responsible for answering and responding to all constituent correspondence. This will include correspondence by phone, postal mail, or email. • Responsible for tracking and inputting all constituent communications into the Correspondence Management System, known as "CMS." • Assist the Legislative Director, Chief of Staff, and State Representative with any policy and legislative research. • Assist the Legislative Director, Chief of Staff, and State Representative with drafting any policy, legislative, state, and administrative documents. • Represent the State Representative at events, meetings, and other state-related matters in, near, or around the Texas Capitol. • Any other state-related matter assigned by the State Representative or Chief of Staff. • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
