Job Description
The Office of Senator Judith Zaffirini is looking for interns seeking experience within the Texas Legislature during the upcoming legislative session. Interns will have the opportunity to assist staff with policy development, legislative and constituent work, and meeting/event planning. The work schedule can be flexible; however, candidates ideally must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours a week. Candidates may apply for a semester, summer, or multiple semesters. Preferred qualifications: -Strong organizational skills -Excellent written and oral communication abilities -Professional appearance -Positive attitude as well as a willingness to learn and take direction -Personal accountability for work done Job Responsibilities: -Conducting policy research -Assisting with constituent casework -Assisting in preparing the Senator for committee hearings -Attending meetings and events related to Capitol business -Writing letters and memoranda -Developing potential legislation
