Legislative Internship
The Office of State Senator Nathan Johnson is seeking interns for the Fall of 2025. The Legislative Intern will support the legislative team in various capacities, including research, policy analysis, and constituent services. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in the legislative process and public policy development, including an opportunity to work during special sessions. Priority Issues:
• Electricity and grid policy
• Affordable housing
• AI and cyber security
• Water and the environment
• Healthcare
• Public education
Qualifications:
• Availability to work at least 15 hours/week from the start of the internship until the end of the Fall semester, 2025.
• Excellent research, writing and oral communication skills
• High level of organization
• Ability to work effectively with stakeholders representing a variety of groups from across the state
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet-based research platforms
Responsibilities:
• Perform research projects in support of possible future legislation
• Review and analyze statutes and legislation
• Conduct policy research
• Participate in and prepare notes for policy briefings regarding a variety of public policy topics
• Assist with stakeholder meetings and constituent casework
• Perform various administrative tasks and other duties as assigned
