State Representative Donna Howard is seeking a motivated, responsible intern to assist with day-to-day running of her Capitol office as part of her team. The intern will have administrative responsibilities as well as opportunities to research public policy and assist constituents while having a front row seat for preparations ahead of the 86th legislative session. This internship is ideal for an undergraduate student who is able to commit to 15-20 hours per week during the fall semester and is interested in exploring a career in public policy. Duties and Responsibilities Duties may include, but are not limited to, answering the phone, greeting visitors, entering constituent information into our database, drafting correspondence, researching policy issues, and writing briefings. Skills A Political Science, Journalism, Communications, or Liberal Arts major preferred, but not required. Applicants should be strong writers and analytical thinkers who are comfortable communicating with the public over the phone, and in-person. Benefits The successful candidate will receive a flat $1,500 stipend for the duration of the internship. In addition, the intern will have the unique opportunity to work in a legislative office and gain a valuable employment reference. The intern will also have the opportunity to further their interest in policy issues, through research, legislative briefings, and developing professional contacts.
