Job Description:
3 Point Partners’ interns play a vital role in supporting client teams. Interns work with a
variety of accounts to take their first step into the advocacy arena and learn the basics of
public affairs and government relations. This internship will involve following state
legislation, attending committee hearings, drafting bill reports, strategizing policy
initiatives, message development, addressing client issues, and client research. The intern
will also be incorporated into the day-to-day activities of local government consulting. We
are committed to proper training, mentorship and the professional growth of our interns.
Requirements:
● College Junior or Senior by Credit Hours
● Located in Austin, Texas
● Comprehensive Political Knowledge
● Comprehensive Research, Writing, and Interpersonal Communication Skills
● Previous experience or coursework with legislative affairs, local government relations,
or political advocacy is preferred.
Job Details
● Our intern will be working at our downtown office, client campuses, the Texas
Capitol, and remotely.
● We’re flexible with class schedules but you must be available between classes
during workday hours.
● Internship runs from mid-January to early June.
● $20 per hour, targeting 15-25 hours per week.
Responsibilities
● Tracking important developments at the 89th Texas Legislative Session, attending
State Committee Hearings, and drafting bill reports.
● Managing legislation-tracking software, submitting cards of support or opposition
on behalf of clients, and providing internal and external legislative updates.
● Monitoring City of Austin and Travis County meetings, providing summaries, and
participating in community meetings.
● Drafting info sheets, one pagers, internal talking points, and client messaging.
● Learning and utilizing public relations software to compile clients reports and notify
stakeholders of press coverage.
● Attending client meetings, as well as performing administrative duties, such as
scheduling meetings and taking notes.
● Collaborating with 3 Point Partners staff on company projects and client
engagement as needed.
Intern Goals:
● Learn tangible industry skills, such as writing policy briefs, preparing talking points,
budget analysis, advancing site development, infrastructure investment processes,
obtaining economic development incentives, etc.
● Develop stronger political instincts and refine your business acumen.
● Understand municipal government and State of Texas operations.
● Help clients interface with government entities and elected officials.
● Reinforce academic pursuits through practical business applications.

bill approval, or City Council approving a new high-rise, we want our public affairs
intern to have success stories to add to their resume.
