Job Description
Research pending legislation for the Daily Floor Report and other session publications
provided by the House Research Organization (HRO) to Texas House members during the 89th regular
legislative session. The position begins in mid-January and lasts through the end of the regular session.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
• Follow assigned committees, attend committee hearings, and prepare hearing notes.
• Research policy proposals related to pending legislation.
• Attend policy briefings for assigned policy areas.
• Support HRO staff in producing the Daily Floor Report and other session reports as needed.
• Participate in HRO pre-session training and ongoing staff development activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The position requires skills in research, writing, and critical analysis. Applicants must be able to read and assemble information rapidly under deadline pressure and have a commitment to factual accuracy, objectivity, and impartial analysis. Applicants must be able to communicate and work effectively with other legislative staff and stakeholders. Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and maintain flexibility in assigned duties is required.
