Policy Analyst Intern
The Office of State Senator Brent Hagenbuch is currently seeking a motivated and analytical Policy Analyst Intern to support our team during the interim (Spring 2025). This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the development, evaluation, and communication of state-level public policy. Interns will work closely with the Senator’s staff to monitor legislation, analyze policy proposals, and track emerging issues affecting Texas. The role will involve conducting research, preparing policy briefs, reviewing committee materials, and evaluating the real-world impacts of proposed laws. This position is ideal for someone with a strong interest in public policy who wants to apply their analytical skills in a fast-paced government environment.
Interns must be organized, dependable, and capable of handling multiple tasks with shifting deadlines. Because priorities can change quickly during the legislative cycle, adaptability and clear thinking under pressure are essential. The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious, detail-focused, and eager to understand how laws are shaped, negotiated, and implemented. While this role centers on policy analysis, interns will also gain exposure to the broader legislative process and have opportunities to observe hearings, stakeholder meetings, and on-the-ground policymaking. If you’re looking to deepen your understanding of Texas public policy and contribute meaningfully to a legislative office, we encourage you to apply and join our team.
