Internship Opportunity, Office of State Representative Ray Lopez Position Availability: Immediately, multiple positions The office of State Representative Ray Lopez is seeking to hire Policy, & Research Interns for both the Fall 2024 Semester and Spring 2025 Semester, which coincides with the 89th Session of the Texas Legislature. An internship in the Office of State Representative Ray Lopez provides students the opportunity to learn about and participate in the legislative process across all issue spectrums and most legislative process areas. Skills necessary for this job are: maintaining a professional attitude, a customer service mentality, and a strong research and writing skills. The work you do will directly affect Texans and influence the direction of state institutions. Policy and research interns in the office of State Representative Ray Lopez have the unique opportunity to perform work that touches the lives of everyday Texans. You'll have the chance to work closely with staff and attend meetings with state government officials, gaining insight into how policy decisions are made and how legislation shapes agency practices. This highly competitive internship will enhance your understanding of government relations and prepare you for future roles across various sectors. We will have regular evaluations and upon successful completion will receive a letter of recommendation from Representative Lopez. You will leave the internship with the ability to serve as an aide for an elected official’s office or similar position, and have a network of individuals in your field of interest. House District 125 includes the City of Leon Valley, three school districts, as well as St. Mary’s and Our Lady of the Lake Universities. District 125 has over 170,000 residents, many of whom are military or civil service employees and retirees.
