Job Description
The Office of State Representative Jessica González is seeking an intern for the fall of 2023 (September – December), with the opportunity for extending. The candidate will work alongside the Representative and District Director in the District office in Oak Cliff, Dallas, to assist with constituents including calls and casework, local governmental outreach, district and policy research, and other duties depending on skill set and expertise. Candidates should expect to work in the office part-time. A monthly stipend of $1,500 will be provided, and the internship may be considered for course credit. The ideal candidate will have a basic familiarity with the legislative process and issues affecting the local Dallas and Grand Prairie communities. They will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong planning and organizational skills, will show attention to detail, and be willing to learn. Those interested in a career in government or public service are strongly encouraged to apply. Prior legislative experience is not required.

The Anna V. Casey Public Service Internship will provide individuals who have an interest in public service and the legislative process with direct experience working in a Texas House Legislative Office. This program honors the late Anna V. Casey, who was masterful in her trade and changed many lives during her career in politics that spanned over 25 years. Anna is known for her prowess in delivering successful campaign strategies for numerous progressive candidates across the state who prioritized communities over self-interest. She will always be remembered for her instrumental work on several city propositions over the years. This is the first annual internship in her honor.
