Spring Internship with Governor Abbott's Campaign
Offered By
Governor Greg Abbott's Campaign
Job Location
Austin
Salary
Unpaid
Job Description
Texans for Greg Abbott, the Governor's re-election campaign, is looking to fill 1-2 more internship slots for the upcoming Spring semester. If you've ever wondered what working on a political campaign is like, you won't find a better opportunity. Governor Abbott's campaign is one of the largest campaigns in the country, performing various duties that traditional campaigns out-source to third party companies. That includes in-house website management, fundraising, and even an in-house studio and film crew. This spring is an ideal time for this internship as it will encompass the March 2020 primary elections. Interns will get a first-hand view of how to prepare for an election, formulate campaign strategy, messaging as well as all the data analytics that go into a campaign, from deciding who to target with ads and grassroots programs to analyzing past and current election results. While common intern tasks such as the occasional phone answering or office task are part of this internship, our interns spend a majority of their time in the office working on much more interesting projects. Mastering excel, learning SQL and improving your research abilities are just a few of the things you'll be involved with during your internship. This is an unpaid internship, though college credits are available if interested. If you're interested in a career in politics, we usually love to hire from within! Some of the people at the top leadership positions at our campaign began as unpaid interns. Our office is located by the State Capitol in Austin, Texas, just a few blocks south of the UT campus.
