Summer District Office Intern - Texas House District 145

The office of State Representative Christina Morales is seeking a summer intern for the District Office to be based in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate is enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program/recently graduated with an interest and education background in public policy, government, or communications. Internships are for approximately 15-20 hours per week. Note: this is an unpaid position. Duties: • Monitor and respond to House District 145 emails • Coordinate the Representative’s schedule and respond to scheduling requests • Handle constituent correspondence, calls, and case work • Draft constituent communications • Request and review drafts of resolutions for community events • Assist with district social media • Events as needed/available • Provide assistance to the district director in daily duties and as assigned Ideal Candidate: The preferred candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, be familiar with or live in House District 145, and have an interest in State Government. They must be comfortable with handling constituent communications and be detail oriented. The candidate must also have a strong work ethic and be punctual. The ideal intern would have some knowledge of the workings of state government and be able to attend events as needed. This is an excellent position for someone looking for experience working in government or with an interest in communications and the Houston community. This internship will provide opportunities to engage with constituents and community stakeholders, with a focus on Houston and House District 145.
