The internship will be multifaceted with a particular emphasis on legislative research. All interns will assist the Senate office staff and will be an integral part of the public service provided by the Senator's office. Applicants ought to possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, solid computer and writing skills, have the ability to understand and explain complex policy issues, and display a strong work ethic. Applicants should also have a strong desire to serve their community and be civically engaged. The atmosphere of the Senate office can be very quick-paced and highly demanding. Therefore, a professional and courteous manner is expected at all times. The Office of State Senator José Menéndez is open to working with the student's respective college or university to assist with course credit for the internship. Interns will be required to work a minimum of 15 hours/week during the internship. The internship will be completely in-person, with no virtual options permitted.
