Job Description:
The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) is accepting applications for its Public Policy internship. The TCDD Public Policy intern will assist the agency's Public Policy division with researching policy issues, tracking legislation, drafting informational features such as the Bill of the Week and weekly legislative updates, and crafting
social media content. The intern will interact with legislative offices and agency officials for the development and distribution of TCDD materials, help produce talking points and one-pagers on policy topics, draft testimony for public hearings, attend meetings with stakeholders to take notes, and potentially assist with the coordination of
TCDD events at the State Capitol. The intern may assist with research and editing of materials for TCDD federal reporting, in addition to other general office duties. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team. Candidates should be responsible, detail-oriented, and have working knowledge of modern office equipment and computer programs. Interest in disability advocacy and knowledge of public policy is preferred.
Strong writing skills are required, and experience with design tools such as Canva would be ideal. Applicants must be seeking a degree in Government, Communications, Social Work or a related area and must have at least 30 hours of academic credit. This position is for the Spring 2025 semester, beginning in January and ending in June of 2025. At least 12-15 hours per week is required.
