Job Description

The Texas Youth Activist Alliance is growing. We are recruiting for many new positions to help us develop our statewide alliance, with hubs in Austin & Laredo currently, though you can apply and engage from anywhere in Texas.

Positions have descriptions following the title. The only specific requirement is that you be between the ages of 14 and 24. Otherwise we generally prioritize team members who indicate strong teamwork skills, a dedication to reproductive justice, and a drive to make change! Bonus if you are a UT Austin Student.
 
Background: The TXYAA is a branch of Advocates for Youth. Advocates for Youth partners with young people and their adult allies to champion youth rights to bodily autonomy and build power to transform policies, programs and systems to secure sexual health and equity for all youth.
 
 
  • Education Director: Develops the work of the Reproductive Health Education side of the TXYAA. Works with Carolina to find advocates, politicians, and partners to host educational forums, both as political candidates forums about future political actions on reproductive justice, as well as town hall/discussion events on reproductive justice overall.
  • Access Director: Develops the work of the Reproductive Health Access side of the TXYAA works with Arshia to develop the path towards getting Reproductive Health Materials and Products to marginalized communities as well as to Prisons and ICE Detention Centers. Plans the path to success, strategizes, develops partnerships, works on outreach and political communications, etc.
  • Research Director: Supports the Education and Access Directors with research on issue areas, targeted problems, individual overviews, political analysis, etc.
  • Policy Director: Leads the strategy on our policy focus areas, prepares research for legislative bills, and prepares the TXYAA for the Spring Legislative Lobby Day. Potentially could help to lead and develop legislative bills for the 90th Texas Legislative session, depending on future strategy discussions.
  • Social Media Director: Manages/curates posts for our socials, manage social media communications, develops social media graphics.
  • TXYAA Secretary: Take meeting notes during TXYAA Leadership meetings, and General meetings. Track metrics of attendance, meetings, events, and recruitment.
  • Policy & Research Analyst: Take on tasks supporting the issue area campaigns of the TXYAA in alignment with the Policy Director, and the Research Director.

All positions would be a volunteer commitment of 5 to 10 hours or less on a weekly basis, with the TXYAA.
