2027 MALLF Fellowship
The Mexican American Legislative Leadership Foundation (MALLF) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders in Texas through leadership development, civic engagement, and public service.
MALLF is seeking dedicated and passionate young leaders to participate in the Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, also known as the MALLF Fellowship. This paid fellowship provides undergraduate students, graduate students, law students, and recent graduates from across Texas with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in government, public policy, and the legislative process by serving directly with Texas State Representatives who are members of the Mexican American Legislative Caucus (MALC)—the oldest and largest Latino legislative caucus in the United States.
Through this immersive experience, fellows will strengthen their leadership and communication skills, expand their professional networks, and develop the knowledge and experience needed to become the next generation of leaders in Texas.

Application Checklist:
- Personal Statement (500 words or less) outlining your family, work, educational, and community experiences that have influenced your decision to apply for the Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program. In your statement, explain how these experiences align with your long-term personal goals and describe how participating in this legislative program will enhance your future leadership within the Latino community.
- Resume listing education, honors, extracurricular activities, community involvement, employment history and special skills.
- Two Recommendation Letters from individuals other than family and friends (must be emailed to mgarcia@malc.org and received by received by October 2, 2026).
- Writing Sample (500 words or less) can be a press release, op-ed, school paper article, etc.
- Mailed Academic Transcript from current or most recent attended institutions (may be sent separately but must be postmarked by October 2, 2026).
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be an undergraduate, having completed at least 60 hours, in a two or four-year accredited institution, OR
- Graduate student enrolled in an accredited institution, OR
- A law student currently enrolled in an accredited law school or pursuing an advanced legal degree, OR
- A recent graduate, AND
- Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
2027 MALLF Fellowship Timeline:
- Mandatory Orientation: January 7, 2027 - January 8, 2027
- Fellowship Duration: January 12, 2027 - May 31, 2027
