The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan nonprofit political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. We influence public policy through education and advocacy. Our democracy is in danger! Are you looking for a way to get involved? Stand with the League for justice and democracy! The League of Women Voters of Texas calendar follows the legislative and election cycles in Texas. For the 2018 Spring Semester, interns will be working on: 1. Getting Out the Vote (GOTV) for the Texas Primary Election on March 6 and the November Texas General Election. This will include developing content for various social media platforms, developing & implementing strategies to mobilize the youth vote and completing research on how Texas high school principals are implementing Texas law to register eligible high school students. 2. Organizing a statewide convention to be held in Kerrville, April 27-29. Activities will include outreach to local Leagues across the state, participating in the convention, and follow up on decisions made at the convention. Interns will observe a true democratic participatory grassroots organization in process. 3. Organizing a major fundraiser, the Making Democracy Work Dinner. Activities include marketing & promotion, identifying & contacting sponsors.
