Job Description

Representative Mihaela Plesa is seeking Flex Interns for the Fall organizing cycle (Mid-August to Early-November). If you are looking for hands-on experience on one of the most competitive state legislative races in the country, this is an opportunity to work directly with a fast-paced, voter-facing campaign in House District 70.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help plan and execute canvasses, including door knocking and block walks

  • Attend community events, rallies, and voter engagement activities

  • Participate in “Mondays with Mihaela” and other organizing programs

  • Support voter outreach through phone banking, texting, and in-person conversations

  • Assist with drafting, assembling, and mailing postcards and other mailers

  • Capture photo and video content at events and in the field

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, team-oriented environments

  • Attention to detail and respect for confidentiality

  • Interest in civic participation, community outreach, and political organizing

  • Spanish fluency is helpful but not required

  • Must have reliable transportation and working cell phone

Please note that this position differs from a traditional internship. Rather than working a standard 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday schedule in the office, Flex Interns will be embedded in field, communications, and organizing work supporting the reelection effort for Rep. Plesa and should expect to be on call throughout the campaign season to assist with the responsibilities listed above.

This role offers valuable hands-on exposure to campaign operations, policy, and constituent engagement. Flex Interns will have the opportunity to gain insight into the structure and strategy behind a political campaign.

Please also note that this is an unpaid internship position. Students seeking academic credit should consult with their academic advisor and/or department to determine whether this opportunity meets their program requirements.
