Fall 2026 Congressional District Office Internship
All interns assist Congressman Doggett and the District Office staff as an integral part of the public service provided by our office (constituent services and community outreach; limited legislative work).
Interns in the District Office will be responsible for recording constituent opinions on legislative and other issues; assisting with constituent casework; responding to constituent requests; communicating with constituents; and handling outreach and other projects as needed. They will also assist the Congressman and/or staff at events throughout the district. Internships are paid and are available for class credit. Decisions are made on a rolling basis, deadline for application submission is as soon as possible.
Application will not be considered unless all documents are submitted in one file, including your availability and language skills. Spanish-speaking a plus, but not required.
Requirements:
-Strong communication, attention to detail, phone, writing, and computer skills are essential.
-The atmosphere of a Congressional office can be very fast-paced and highly demanding. A professional, courteous manner is expected at all times.
- A minimum of 20-24 hours per week must be available, minimum of 4-hour shifts, in person at the district office downtown at the J.J. Pickle Federal Building. All day availability a plus. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Full-time position may be available. Please include your availability to be in the office in your cover letter.
