Field Organizer

Background
The Wang for Texas Campaign is a State House campaign that is seeking to win the open Democratic House District 49 seat in Central Austin. The Wang for Texas Campaign is looking for dedicated Field Organizers to work with the Candidate and staff to help win a competitive primary. We are looking for motivated individuals with strong work ethic who want to roll up their sleeves and be part of the next generation of Central Texas leadership. This position can work around your schedule and is available to part-time and full-time applicants.

Responsibilities

• Must be comfortable knocking on doors, making phone calls, and sending SMS messages
• Must be able to hit metric goals on a weekly and quarterly basis and work well under pressure.
• Develop and maintain a strong and trusting relationship with volunteers and partner organizations.
• Provide daily/weekly reports of voter contact and volunteer recruitment data to Senior Staff
• Recruit for weekly volunteer events.
• Work with other candidates, campaign staff, and organizations across the Central Texas area to implement a successful Campaign.

Qualifications & Skills

• Prior organizing experience preferred (paid, volunteer, or internship)
• Ability to work long and/or unusual hours (weekends and some nights, especially leading up to the election).
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a team
• Access to reliable transportation. Travel within House District 49 is required.
• Positive attitude and a commitment to electing Democrats in Texas
