Job Description
The Garcia Group Lobbying and Governmental Relations Firm is seeking a Legislative Aide for the 86th Legislative Session to work flexibly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Applicants should have well-developed organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as be professional and responsible. Competitive candidates must have a basic understanding and interest in the Texas legislative process, as well as the structure and policies of state government. Legislative aides should be should be independent self-starters with considerable attention to detail while being able to respond to pressure and deadlines quickly and strategically. During session, aides will conduct research on key issues and topics relating to legislation, analyze and prepare briefing documents for clients, and attend and write up memos on committee hearings.
Basic requirements include:
• A flexible schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays
• A basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Strong communication skills
• Experience in intensive research and writing
