Job Description: 
The Office of State Representative Jessica Farrar is seeking applicants for unpaid internship opportunities in her Capitol office in Austin, Texas during the interim of the 85th Legislative Session. The work schedule can be flexible; however, candidates must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours a week. Interns will be given the opportunity to become involved in Texas state government; learn more about the legislative process and public policy development; and serve the citizens of District 148, all while gaining valuable employment experience. Interns must be in undergraduate or graduate school; have polished written and verbal communication skills; possess strong organization skills; and have a positive attitude, as well as a willingness to learn and grow, and an excitement to understand how government can work to help constituents. Interns can expect to be asked to conduct research on legislation, various policy areas, and special issues affecting Houston; assist with constituent casework and correspondence; attend meetings and events related to Capitol business; and help staff answer phones and complete other important administrative tasks. Interns may receive credit for coursework if offered by your school, and will be eligible for possible future employment opportunities and/or references.
