Job Description
Ron Lewis & Associates is an office of consultants working with the State Legislature for the benefit of their clients. During his tenure in the Texas House of Representatives from 1985 to 2003, Ron Lewis became an influential figure in the Texas political realm. After retiring from the legislature, Mr. Lewis used the experience and procedural knowledge gained to develop a trusted name in political strategy and governmental consulting. This position is ideal for a motivated individual interested in getting hands-on experience in Texas politics and institutional systems and procedures. Intern responsibilities include: answering phones and communicating with clients on a variety of issues; managing in-office legislative directory; drafting blog updates; making deliveries to the Capitol; bill analysis and data entry; updating calendars; interfacing with legislative staff members. Necessary skills: professional demeanor and communication skills and basic Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency. Work schedule built around your class schedule. Typical working hours fall between 8am and 5pm, Monday-Friday, with the expectation of a 15- to 20-hour work week. The position begins early January and concludes at the end of May. Government or Political Science major preferred. Paid position, monthly salary dependent on class credit received.
