Job Description

The Office of State Senator Taylor Rehmet (SD-9) is excited to offer a part-time, paid Legislative Internship in-person at the Texas Capitol to start as early as Monday, April 6, 2026.

The Legislative Intern will support the team with research and policy analysis, providing a unique opportunity for hands-on experience with the legislative process and policy development. This position requires strong research and writing skills and a deep dedication to public service. Prior legislative/policy experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct policy and legislative research;
  • Review, analyze, and synthesize legislation, statute, and administrative code;
  • Assist in drafting memos and briefings for the office;
  • Attend and prepare notes for briefings relating to various policy areas;
  • Assist with drafting responses to constituent correspondence; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills;
  • Strong analytical abilities;
  • High level of organization;
  • Professional demeanor and commitment to confidentiality; and
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
