Legislative Intern
Job Description
The Office of Dean Senator Judith Zaffirini at the State Capitol is hiring interns that are seeking experience in the Texas Legislature. Interns will have the opportunity to assist staff with policy development, legislative and constituent work, and meeting/event planning. The work schedule can be flexible; however, candidates ideally must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours a week. Availability MUST be congruent with our hours of operation that are from 8 AM- 5:30 PM. This internship will run from May 25, 2026- August 7, 2026.

· Strong organizational skills.
· Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
· Professional appearance and attire.
· Positive attitude as well as a willingness to learn and take direction.
· Personal accountability for work done.
Responsibilities
· Assisting with constituent casework.
· Conducting policy research.
· Assisting in preparing the Senator for committee hearings.
· Attending meetings and events related to Capitol business.
· Writing letters and memoranda.
· Developing potential legislation.
Other duties as assigned.
