Legislative Intern
The office of Representative Josey Garcia is seeking individuals with a passion for public service who are interested in assisting with day-to-day tasks at our Capitol office and learning about the legislative process. Our office is looking for applicants who can work a minimum of 10 hours per week during the Spring or Summer. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 17.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Strong written and verbal skills;
· Strong organizational skills;
· A passion for social justice;
· A knowledge of Texas or national political issues;
· No prior legislative experience is required
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE
· Answering phones and greeting visitors with professionalism;
· Logging and responding to constituent correspondence, and collaborating with state agencies to address constituent issues;
· Researching legislation and policy areas of interest to the Representative;
· Preparing bill analyses as required;
· Attending meetings with issue experts and producing briefing memos
SALARY:
This is an unpaid internship opportunity and school credit is encouraged.
